Title: Untitled (Green Mask) Technique: Acrylic on shaped plywood Measures: 22 1/4 x 19 inches (56.5 x 48.3 cm), according to labels affixed to the reverse Year: 1982, according to inscriptions and labels on the reverse Condition: Good overall condition. The green-painted surface presents clearly defined white linear imagery throughout. Scattered scratches, abrasions, small paint losses, edge wear, and handling marks are visible, particularly along the shaped perimeter and reverse. The plywood support appears stable and is fitted with hanging hardware. Please review all photographs as part of the condition report. Provenance: From a private collection in New Jersey. According to verbal provenance, the work was obtained during the clearance of a commercial property in Manhattan in the early 1990s and retained privately thereafter. Supporting records from the original clearance are unavailable. This provenance reflects the ownership history supplied when the artwork was received for cataloging. Visual Description: This shaped composition resembles an enlarged mask or paddle rendered in deep green with two circular eye openings. White linear drawings cover the surface and include dancing figures, radiant bodies, an eye, a light bulb, crosses, hearts, animals, and other animated symbols. At the center, a broad-brimmed figure appears above a smaller human form, while additional figures and creatures fill the lower section. The energetic outlines, repeated motion marks, and densely arranged pictographic imagery recall the visual vocabulary associated with Keith Haring and the New York street-art movement of the early 1980s. Additional Information: The reverse bears an inscription reading “K. Haring ’82 / MAY. 13,” accompanied by a circled cross-like symbol. Labels referring to Leo Castelli and Tony Shafrazi Gallery are also affixed to the reverse; they identify Keith Haring as the artist, list the work as Untitled, describe the medium as acrylic on plywood, and state that it was executed in 1982. The inscriptions, labels, and stylistic associations are reported solely for cataloging purposes and do not independently establish authenticity, authorship by Keith Haring, exhibition history, or documented transactions with the named galleries. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
