Title: Untitled Drip Composition Technique: Oil and enamel on canvas, according to the label affixed to the reverse Measures: 31 x 47 inches (78.7 x 119.4 cm) Year: 1951, according to the inscription and reverse label Condition: Good condition. The surface presents extensive layered pigment application with overlapping drips, pours, splatters, and linear passages throughout. Minor surface wear and handling marks consistent with age and display may be present. Areas of staining, discoloration, and pigment transfer are visible on the reverse. The canvas appears stable and display-ready, retaining its vivid coloration, substantial texture, and overall visual impact. Provenance: From a private collection in Palm Beach County, Florida. Reportedly acquired privately from a longtime collector of American modernism around 2003 and subsequently retained in the same collection. No supporting documentation concerning that acquisition or earlier ownership accompanied the work. This provenance reflects the history supplied when the artwork was received for cataloging. Visual Description: This large horizontal abstraction presents a dense network of black, green, blue, and red pigment layered across a pale ground. Broad black pours intersect with thinner looping lines, scattered droplets, and irregular pools of color, while bright blue, olive green, and red passages introduce pronounced chromatic contrast. The all-over arrangement eliminates a conventional focal point, allowing the eye to move continuously across the highly activated surface. Variations in line thickness, direction, and pigment accumulation create a strong sense of spontaneity, physical movement, and layered depth. Bears an inscription appearing to read “Jackson Pollock 51” near the lower right. Additional Information: A label referring to the Betty Parsons Gallery, 15 East 57th Street, New York, is affixed to the reverse. It appears to identify Jackson Pollock as the artist, list the work as Untitled, describe the medium as oil and enamel on canvas, and date it to 1951. The label, inscription, date, and stylistic associations are reported solely for cataloging purposes and do not independently establish authenticity, authorship by Jackson Pollock, exhibition history, provenance, or a documented gallery transaction. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
