Title: Water Lilies with Rowboat Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 21 x 29 inches (53.3 x 73.7 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Good condition. The painted surface presents vivid coloration, energetic brushwork, and layered applications of pigment throughout the water, vegetation, and reflections. Minor surface wear and handling marks consistent with age and display may be present. The canvas appears stable and display-ready, retaining its strong colors, substantial texture, and overall visual impact. Presented in an ornate gold-tone frame showing light age-related wear. Provenance: From a private collection in Boston, Massachusetts. Reportedly acquired during the dispersal of a family estate in the early 1990s and subsequently retained in the same collection. Documentation concerning its ownership before that period is unavailable. This provenance reflects the ownership history supplied when the artwork was received for cataloging. Visual Description: This colorful waterscape depicts a tranquil pond bordered by dense trees and vegetation. Pink water lilies emerge among broad green pads in the foreground, while a small rowboat carrying a solitary figure crosses the reflective water toward the right. Sweeping passages of blue, white, lavender, pink, and green capture the shifting movement of the surface and its surrounding reflections. The elevated viewpoint, broken brushwork, luminous palette, and emphasis on atmospheric effects recall the celebrated garden and water-lily compositions associated with Claude Monet at Giverny. Bears an inscription reading “Claude Monet” near the lower right. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
