Title: Harvest Landscape under a Starry Sky Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 29 x 29 inches (73.7 x 73.7 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Good condition. The surface presents vivid coloration with extensive textured brushwork and layered pigment throughout the sky, mountains, fields, and architectural elements. Minor surface wear and handling marks consistent with age and display may be present. The canvas appears stable and display-ready, retaining its substantial texture, saturated palette, and overall visual impact. Presented in an ornate gold-tone frame showing light age-related wear. Provenance: From a longtime private collection in Georgia. According to family history, the work was discovered among paintings and decorative objects during the clearance of an older Savannah residence in 1994. Records predating the discovery were unavailable. This provenance reflects the ownership history supplied when the artwork was received for cataloging. Visual Description: This vibrant rural landscape depicts figures working in a golden harvest field surrounded by bundled sheaves of grain. White farmhouses and slender cypress trees extend across the middle distance, while rolling blue mountains rise beneath a dramatic sky filled with swirling clouds and a radiant yellow sun. The composition combines pastoral imagery with rhythmic, directional brushwork and pronounced applications of color. Intense blues, yellows, greens, and whites create a dynamic contrast between the illuminated field and animated sky, recalling the expressive landscapes associated with Vincent van Gogh’s period in southern France. Bears an inscription reading “Vincent” near the lower right. Additional Information: A museum-style label referring to the Musée d’Orsay is affixed to the reverse, accompanied by several ink stamps and a circular seal-like marking. These labels, stamps, markings, inscription, and stylistic associations are reported solely for cataloging purposes and do not independently establish authenticity, authorship by Vincent van Gogh, museum ownership, exhibition history, or a documented institutional transaction. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
