Antique Ornate Framed River Landscape Print

Dating likely to the late 19th or early 20th century, this antique artwork features a European-styled river landscape scene housed in an ornate gesso and wood frame. The romanticized composition depicts a riverside cottage, a docking rowboat with figures, a passing rowing crew, and distant sailboats set against a sunset sky. The piece is secured within a heavily molded frame featuring an inner gilt liner and an outer border of deep-relief scrolling foliate motifs. The reverse displays atraditional multi-board wooden backing secured with small nails and an older chain hanging assembly. The artwork and frame exhibit wear commensurate with age, including noticeable chipping, cracking, and loss to the frame's gesso detailing,revealing the underlying base material in several areas. The wood backing panels on the reverse show a vertical split along with typical age-related drying and surface abrasions. The surface of the art itself presents well, with minor surface wear and toning consistent with long-term antique display. Dimensions of the print are 22 x 36 inches and the ornate frame measures 33" x 47"
