VINTAGE YELLOW PYREX MIXING BOWL - LARGEST PRIMARY COLORS NESTING BOWL, WHITE MILK GLASS INTERIOR The big yellow one. This is the classic Pyrex nesting mixing bowl in bright yellow, the largest size in the familiar Primary Colors set, with a glossy yellow exterior over white opal milk glass and a plain white interior. It has the recognizable flared bowl shape with the raised band below the rim, deep straight-sloping sides, and a wide flat white foot ring. Measures approximately 10-1/2 inches in diameter and stands approximately 4-1/2 to 5 inches tall, putting it squarely in the four quart size that anchors the nesting set. The base carries a molded raised PYREX trademark, but the lettering is shallow and the photograph reads only part of it, so the number, capacity marking, and remaining ring wording are not transcribed here. These sell strongly on their own and even more strongly to anyone chasing the yellow, green, red, and blue set, and this is the piece most often missing. Bidders should read the condition notes, since yellow Pyrex is judged almost entirely on gloss and color evenness and that is difficult to grade from photographs. Sold as a single mixing bowl. Description Single Pyrex mixing bowl, white opal milk glass body with a bright yellow exterior color coat and a plain white unpainted interior. Classic Pyrex nesting bowl form, flared and deep, with a raised horizontal band running around the exterior just below the rim, straight sloping sides, and a wide flat foot ring left in plain white. The white foot ring center carries a molded raised PYREX trademark, photographed under raking light. Only part of the lettering is legible in the photograph, reading in part PYREX, and the model number, the capacity marking, and the remaining ring wording such as trade mark and made in U.S.A. cannot be read from these photographs, so none of that is transcribed or claimed. Interior is plain glossy white opal glass with no printing, banding, or decoration. Measures approximately 10-1/2 inches in diameter across the rim per the tape-measure photograph, in which the tape is laid across the top of the bowl rather than hooked on the rim, so the figure is a close estimate. Stands approximately 4-1/2 to 5 inches tall per the second tape-measure photograph, in which the tape is stood on the table beside the bowl rather than fixed to it, so the height is also a close estimate. Capacity was not measured or verified. Bidders should verify all dimensions from the photographs. Attribution note Pyrex is the kitchen glassware line introduced by Corning Glass Works in 1915, and its opal white milk glass kitchenware with colored exteriors became a fixture of American kitchens from the mid-twentieth century onward. The four-bowl nesting set in yellow, green, red, and blue is the best known of these, with the yellow bowl as the largest of the four and typically the four quart size. This bowl matches that yellow nesting bowl in color, form, and construction
