VINTAGE LEONARD SILVERPLATE 12" FOOTED PEDESTAL CAKE STAND WITH GADROON RIM AND CHASED FLORAL SCROLL CENTER Elegant vintage silverplate pedestal cake stand marked by Leonard Silver, with a bright mirror-polished 12" round top, a heavy cast gadroon and shell border, and a beautifully chased floral, scroll, and lattice medallion pattern filling the well. The plate is raised on a shaped trumpet pedestal foot with a stepped, banded base rim. This is the classic wedding, holiday, and buffet cake plate - equally at home under a layer cake, a pie, cupcakes, cheese, hors d'oeuvres, or as a raised centerpiece for a floral arrangement or candle display. Sold as one piece. Description Silverplate footed pedestal cake stand, round form, marked Leonard Silverplate Measures approximately 12" in diameter and approximately 4-1/4" to 4-1/2" tall per the tape-measure photographs; bidders should verify dimensions from the photographs Cast gadroon, gadroon-and-shell style border with a smooth flat rim and a stepped inner well Chased and engine-engraved center pattern of acanthus scrolls, flower heads, and cross-hatched lattice cartouches radiating from a plain circular center Bright polished trumpet pedestal foot with two raised bands and a plain flared base rim, hollow underneath as shown Stamped on the underside of the plate LEONARD SILVERPLATE Undecorated, no monogram, no engraved presentation inscription Attribution note Leonard Silver Manufacturing Co. was founded in 1969 by Leonard Florence, operating out of Chelsea and then Boston, Massachusetts, and specialized in affordably priced silverplated hollowware and giftware, much of it produced for the company in Italy, Spain, England, and elsewhere. Leonard was acquired by Towle Silversmiths in the late 1970s and the Leonard name later continued as a product line under the International and Wallace umbrella. Replacements, Ltd. catalogs a Leonard Silver Mfg Co. silverplate hollowware line described as gadroon edge that includes a 12" diameter pedestal cake stand, which matches this piece in form and border. Dating is offered as the consignor's photo-based opinion and is not guaranteed. Bid on the item as pictured. Condition Used vintage condition, sold as-is. The piece presents very well, with a bright, highly reflective polished surface on the top, the rim, and the pedestal, and the chased pattern remains crisp and fully legible. Expected light surface scratching and faint handling and utensil marks are visible in the well under raking light, and there is scattered darkening and tarnish haze on the underside of the plate around the maker's stamp as pictured. No dents, splits, warping, or breaks are apparent, and no significant plate loss or copper bleed-through is visible in the photographs, though the high points of the gadroon border, the outer rim, and the base rim are the usual wear points and should be inspected closely. No chips, cracks, or missing elements are present - this is an all-metal pi
