An expressive original oil on canvas by noted Canadian sculptor and painter Sylvia Lefkovitz, titled Mother and Children. Artist Biography: Sylvia Lefkovitz (1924–2005) was a Canadian sculptor and painter born in Rabat, Morocco. She studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris before immigrating to Canada in the 1950s. Settling in Montreal, she became one of Canada's leading figurative sculptors, exhibiting extensively throughout North America and Europe.Lefkovitz's work frequently explored themes of family, motherhood, human relationships, and spirituality, expressed through simplified yet emotionally powerful forms. Her sculptures and paintings are represented in numerous public, corporate, and private collections, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, and many university and municipal collections. She received numerous awards during her distinguished career and is recognized as an important contributor to Canadian modern art.
