Robert "Bob" White (b.1939) Tullytown, PA c.1965 8.5" long body 6.5" tall on scene. A close cousin to lot one in this auction, the one of a kind standing bluewing teal, this exceedingly rare full body golden plover was created during the peak period of Bob White's decorative carving in the mid to late 1960's. Perhaps being one of the first made in this period as interestingly the shorebird was signed "Robert" White instead of his typical "Bob" because he was not yet widely known as "Bob White". The forward positioned plover has vibrant paint with relief carved wings that flow back to deeply incised and raised wingtips that lift gently above the tail. The legs are made of metal and coated in a rubber/ latex paint to define the knees and raised feet on the base. Signed and dated Robert White c.1965.Condition: Excellent and original with some tight age lines in the paint around both thighs, a couple tight crack lines in the paint on the upper right legProvenance: Private Collection, PA
