Mid-Century Pearl Lucite Vanity Case

Vintage mid-century pearl Lucite vanity, cosmetic or train case, likely dating to approximately the 1950s–1960s. Features a distinctive round hard-shell form in translucent ivory/cream with a pearlescent marbled appearance, topped by a clear sculptural Lucite handle and an elaborate molded radiating floral/starburst design across the lid. The case is fitted with polished metal hardware and a front clasp marked “PRESTO LOCK CO.” Presto Lock Co. of Garfield, New Jersey was a known American manufacturer of luggage locks and hardware during the mid-20th century. This style is associated with the glamorous Lucite and acrylic vanity accessories popular during the postwar era and is similar in appearance to collectible Wilardy-style Lucite vanity cases, although no maker attribution for the case itself has been confirmed. Measures approximately 7.5" diameter × 4" tall, excluding the raised handle. Displays age-related yellowing/patina, surface wear and discoloration consistent with vintage use.
