Japanese Model Arisaka Type 38

R Serial # 00613440. 6.5x50mm caliber Japanese caliber bolt action rifle with a 31-1/2” barrel. The bore is poor, dark with rust, heavy frosting and possibly cosmoline; there is visible rifling. Made at the Koishikawa Arsenal in Tokyo in the early 1920’s. No series markings. The S/N is preceded by two zeros indicating that the rifle was removed from military service and transferred to a school for training purposes as indicated by the addition of a character on the receiver ring. The gun is in relic condition. The blued metal finish on the barrel is a rusty brown patina. The blued metal finish on the receiver is in fair condition showing thinning, rub marks and older cleaned rust. The barrel bands, trigger guard and butt plate are a rusty brown patina. The floor plate and follower are missing. The military stock and handguard are in poor military condition showing numerous and heavy dings, scratches, holes and finish wear. The mum has been de-faced by striking 2 circles through it. Original rusty military sights. The action works, but is packed with cosmoline. The cleaning rod is missing. C&R.
