American Tack & Hardware Brass-Plated Ornate Wall

A set of four vintage cast metal wall plates produced by the American Tack & Hardware Co. in the late 1960s. The group consists of two covers for single-toggle light switches and two covers for standard duplex electrical outlets. Each plate features a heavy foliate and floral border design in high relief surrounding a central field with a textured diagonal basketweave pattern. The pieces are finished in a bright gold-tone plating. The reverse of one plate is cast with the mark 1967 AMERICAN TACK & HDWE followed by a circled © and a small circled UL symbol. A second plate bears the cast marks AMER. TACK & HDWE. CO. and © 1968 75D along with circled UL and CSA symbols.Length: 4 3/4 inchesWidth: 3 1/4 inchesThe wall plates are in good vintage condition. There is visible surface wear and dark spots of oxidation and tarnish located primarily within the recessed areas of the floral border and along the outer edges. Minor plating loss is present on the high points of the relief design. Mounting hardware is not included with this lot.
