Cooper & J. Bord Oil Still Life Paintings

A pair of 20th-century still life oil paintings on board, each housed in a traditional stepped frame with a black inner cove. The first painting illustrates a copper-toned pitcher accompanied by grapes and an apple, executed with thick impasto highlights on the metallic surface. The work is signed in the lower right corner with a painted cursive signature reading Cooper. The second painting features a blue vase and a burning candle in a metallic holder, with grapes resting on a dark foreground. This piece bears a painted signature in the lower right corner reading J. Bord. Both pieces are painted in a realist style with high contrast lighting against dark backgrounds. The first work is held in a light wood-toned frame, while the second is in a gilt-finished frame.Height: 8 inchesWidth: 6 inchesThe paintings are in good overall condition, showing surface dust and dirt accumulation on the painting surfaces and frames. Minor scuffs and light wear are present on the frame corners and edges. The wooden backing boards display light staining and minor foxing, and the metal glazier points on the reverse show signs of oxidation.
