U.S. Model 1873 socket bayonet for the .45-70 Springfield “Trapdoor” rifle. Indian Wars-era U.S. military bayonet featuring an approximately 18" triangular blade, offset shank, socket mounting system and locking ring. Blade is stamped “U.S.” near the base. Retains a substantial amount of its dark blued finish with scattered age-related wear, oxidation and patina as shown.Includes steel bayonet scabbard. Scabbard retains dark finish with scattered wear and oxidation. Leather belt frog/hanger is absent. Bayonet measures approximately 22" overall including scabbard with an approximately 18" blade. A nice example of the classic U.S. Model 1873 Trapdoor Springfield bayonet. Please review photographs closely for markings and condition.
