Lithographed metal bread box in the Wheat Heart Brand pattern, shaded green and cream Victorian revival styling popular for kitchen tins in the 1970s. The front panel carries an ornate scrolled cartouche reading Wheat Heart Brand in split letter logo, the word Bread in large shaded script below, Oven-Baked on the left and Enriched on the right in curved banners, and The Finest Quality Since 1845 across the bottom. One end reads Be Sure To Ask For Us By Name in three ribbon banners and the other reads The One With The Home-Made Flavor And Goodness. The lid is hinged at the back with a full length gold piano hinge. Ventilation holes are punched through the front panel under the logo. Against the ruler it stands about eight inches tall. The interior is bright gold lacquer and appears clean. Condition is good with honest kitchen wear, bright even litho, scuffing across the lid, light surface rust and darkening along the bottom rim and lower edges, and a few small scratches on the back panel. Estimated Value: $25 to $40 based on comparable recent sales. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors.
