1972 Hand-Lettered Novelty Inner Tube

Small rubber inner tube turned into a homemade trophy in 1972. The white hand-lettered paint reads SAM MILLER across the top, WORLD CHAMP TUBE JUMP around the lower edge, and MAR 72 near the valve. The strokes are uneven, brushed on by hand, which is what you want on a piece like this. The rubber is molded MADE IN U.S.A. and HEAVY DUTY TUBE, a size marking is pressed into the sidewall, and the plain metal valve stem is still in place. It measures roughly twelve inches across laid flat and holds no air, so treat this as a display piece and not a usable tube. Condition is good for its age with surface scuffs, dry cracking along the folds, and light paint loss on a few letters. Homemade folk art trophies were made one at a time for a county fair stunt or a joke award between friends, so no two are alike. Estimated Value: Comparable sales data was not available.
