Decorative wall piece showing the 1888 George F. Cram atlas map of France. The image is printed on canvas and stretched over wooden stretcher bars with staples on the back, and it measures roughly twelve inches square. This is a canvas print of the antique map and not an original 1888 map or a loose paper page pulled from an atlas. The printing is sharp and every detail of the original engraving reads clearly. Provinces and departments are outlined in soft yellow, pink, and green wash, Corsica is set off in red, and the neighbors are labeled GERMAN EMPIRE, WURTEMBERG, and SWITZERLAND. Along the bottom the longitude is measured from East Washington, an American convention Cram used in that era. The statistics block gives the population as 37,600,000 and the area as 204,071 square miles. Condition is very good with clean corners, tight canvas, and no tears or stains. Estimated Value: $15 to $30 based on comparable recent sales. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors.
