Oldsmobile rocket neon sign in crate. For 1949 Oldsmobile introduced their new overhead valve V8 motor (the Rocket 8). This made Oldsmobile one of the fastest cars for the next decade. The “rocket” was key to Oldsmobile advertising during that period. Even Oldsmobile cars had rocket hood ornaments in the 1950s. This neon sign fully represents Oldsmobile’s advertising in that period and beyond. The sign background is in yellow and blue with “OLDSMOBILE” letters in white. The main rocket outline is in yellow neon lights with the “OLDSMOBILE” name in white neon lights. It is in very good condition. Plugged in and works great!
