A Gorham sterling silver pierced server in pattern number 588, featuring an ornate Rococo Revival design with an intricate openwork bowl and a cast handle terminating in a classical mask. The reverse of the handle is impressed with symbols of a lion, anchor, and calligraphic G, followed by STERLING and 588. This piece displays dense scrolling foliage and floral motifs throughout the handle and bowl. The server measures 6.25 inches in length and weighs 1.960 OZT. Good antique condition with minor surface scratches and expected tarnish in the deep recesses of the ornate casting as seen in photos 1 and 7.
