This charcoal gray wool cap is a post-World War II West German piece produced by Albert Kempf K.G. Mützenfabrik Wuppertal-Vohwinkel (Albert Kempf K.G. Cap Factory Wuppertal-Vohwinkel). The interior features a blue cloth lining, a grey vinyl sweatband, and a clear plastic diamond sweat shield stamped Alkero and BUND ZS, translating to Federal Civil Defense, along with a size 57 paper tag. A skull and crossbones patch is stitched to the front above the two-button closure, and an eagle emblem holding a swastika is attached to the side as non-period additions. Measuring 11 inches by 7 inches, the structured cap displays light wear and serves as a modified post-war piece.
