German K98 combat bayonet manufactured in 1942 by WKC (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie.), as indicated by the "42 cvl" marking on the ricasso. The bayonet features a blued single-edged steel blade with a 10-inch length, single fuller, and serial number"9707" with block suffix "vv" stamped on the opposite ricasso. The construction includes dark grooved bakelite grip scales attached by two screws, a steel crossguard, spine-mounted flash guard, and a blued steel pommel with a fully functional attachment mechanism. The complete set is accompanied by a blued steel scabbard stamped "9342" at the throat, and housed in a black leather combat frog with stitched and riveted reinforcement. The set shows service-related oxidation, pitting, and finish loss, with a bayonet length of 15.2 inches, and extends to 16.5 inches when sheathed. Total weight is 421 grams.
