Manufactured in 1937/38, this German M31 field canteen features an aluminum body enclosed in a brown felt cover with four metal snap closures. Fitted with an olive green painted aluminum cup, web strap harness, metal clip, and an aluminum screw cap, the cap is clearly stamped FSS 37 indicating the maker code and year of manufacture. The snap fasteners are marked SHB, and the interior of the cap retains its original cork seal lining. This example displays honest service wear consistent with age, including light finish loss to the cup, minor oxidation on metal hardware, and natural fraying or age toning across the wool cover and webbing harness. Measures 10 x 7.5 inches. A well-preserved, fully equipped WWII German field item, perfect for display alongside World War II gear and combat equipment collections.
