Manufactured during World War II by Ernst Leitz in Wetzlar under manufacturer ordnance code "beh", these German naval-style 7x50 binoculars feature upper prism housing stampings reading "7X50 / beh", serial number "473743", and a small blue "T" lens coating indicator mark. The binoculars measure 9 inches high by 7.5 inches wide (22.9 cm H x 19.1 cm W) and weigh 1,307 grams (2 lbs 14.1 oz). Constructed with a cast metal frame, textured body finish, rubber objective armor rings, and ribbed rubber ocular eyecups, the unit retains smooth central hinge tension and smooth individual focus diopters. Internal optical condition is foggy through both barrels, with heavy dust spotting visible on the right side, resulting in a blurry field of view. All factory finishes and rubber protective components remain original and unrestored, displaying age-appropriate surface wear, edge rubbing, and natural patina. A thin leather neck strap remains attached to the side loops.
