Imperial German Saxon Cavalry Officer Dress Sword

This is an authentic Imperial German Kingdom of Saxony Model 1892 cavalry dress sword, known as the Sächsischer Offiziersdegen M1892, paired with its original steel scabbard. The sword features a single-edged, fullered steel blade with a bright finish, measuring approximately 32 inches in length. The nickel-plated hilt incorporates a folding counterguard centered by a detailed relief-struck crowned Saxon coat of arms within a laurel wreath. The grip is ribbed brown composite, continuing to a plain backstrap and pommel cap. The black enamel-finished steel scabbard includes a single suspension ring and shows minor surface scuffs but retains its strong finish. The sword measures 37 inches overall in the scabbard with a total weight of 638 grams (1.4 lbs). It presents in very clean vintage condition, with a bright blade, minimal runner marks, and light surface freckling near the ricasso. The guard’s nickel plating remains bright, with a smooth operating folding guard. This represents a fine, complete example of Imperial German state-level officer edged weaponry, suitable for Saxon or WWI sword collections.
