Dating to the World War I era, this 6x military field glass (Doppelfernrohr) was manufactured by Carl Zeiss in Jena, Germany. Upper prism cover plate stampings display the framed "CARL ZEISS JENA" logo alongside military designation "D.F. 6x" and serial number "700050". The binoculars measure 4.25 inches high by 6 inches wide (10.8 cm H x 15.2 cm W) and weigh 472 grams (1 lb 0.6 oz). The accompanying brown leather hard case measures 5 inches high by 7 inches wide (12.7 cm H x 17.8 cm W). Constructed with metal frame elements, individual focus diopters, and textured body coverings, the set maintains smooth central hinge pivot action and smooth focus controls on both diopters. The right eyecup exhibits a chip along its outer rim. Optical glass displays a cracked lens on the left ocular side and light dust marks on the right side, resulting in a clear image on the right but distorted viewing on the left. All exterior metal components and body coverings have been fully repainted, with paint peeling present along the objective barrel lens caps. The brown leather case shows age and surface wear, with its closure latch strap and shoulder strap missing.
