A vintage American mahjong set by Cardinal Industries Inc. of Brooklyn, New York. The set features two trays of cream plastic tiles with hand-painted characters and Western notations. Included are four marbled plastic racks in assortedcolors, a yellow hexagonal token, and a wooden spacer block. An orange adhesive label on the interior lid identifies the manufacturer as Cardinal Industries Inc.The exterior case shows significant loss and tearing to the green paper covering. Metal hardware exhibits tarnishing and surface oxidation, with rust on the interior chain. Tiles and racks show light surface wear. The handle displays finish loss.
