Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881–1973) Original lithograph from the deluxe edition of Picasso Dessins by Waldemar George. Published by Editions des Quatre Chemins, Paris. Pencil signed lower right. A portrait of Russian composer Igor Stravinsky in profile, after Picasso's celebrated 1920 drawing made during their collaboration on the Ballets Russes productions. Stravinsky is depicted with folded arms, wearing his signature spectacles and bow tie, rendered in Picasso's restrained neoclassical linear style. Issued on Arches paper in a limited edition of 100 copies accompanying the deluxe publication. Numbered on verso 15/100. One of the most recognizable portraits in the Picasso Dessins portfolio, this image commemorates Picasso's friendship and artistic collaboration with composer Igor Stravinsky during one of the most influential periods of modern art and music. The elegant line work and historical significance make this among the most desirable portrait plates from the deluxe Picasso Dessins edition. Does not include the original book and limitation page, these 3 pieces are for reference only. Overall good condition with light toning and minor age-related wear. Measures 8.25" x 10.25".
