This original WWII German military gas cape pouch (Gasplanentasche) is constructed from coarse grey-green linen canvas. Measuring 10 inches high by 8 inches wide, the envelope-style pouch was designed to carry the folded chemical protection sheet (Gasplane) attached to the soldier's gas mask canister carrying harness. The fold-over top flap is secured by two painted metal press-snap fasteners set on woven fabric pull tabs. The reverse features two horizontal stitched canvas loops for strap mounting. Inside the flap, the interior canvas retains a boxed red ink manufacturer or inspection stamp. The canvas shows minor storage staining and light surface scuffing, while the metal snap hardware exhibits heavy rust and oxidation.
