Manufactured by Cigaretten-Bilderdienst Altona-Bahrenfeld in 1935, this original collectible cigarette card album is titled Vom Werden deutscher Filmkunst: 2. Teil: Der Tonfilm (On the Development of German Cinema: Part 2: Sound Film). Written by film historian Dr. Oskar Kalbus, the 136-page softcover volume is bound in blue paper wrappers featuring embossed gilt Fraktur lettering, and a central tipped-on color portrait. The interior contains text printed in German Fraktur along with tipped-in monochrome real photo card plates depicting famous period sound films and actors, including Marlene Dietrich, Emil Jannings, Conrad Veidt, and Paula Wessely. The volume measures 12.25 x 9.5 inches and is complete, containing all photos. Condition is consistent with age and typical handling. The outer cover displays foxing, and surface wear along the upper margin, alongside light edge wear and corner bumping. Interior pages remain largely clean with intact bindings, crisp photo plates, and minor toning near the edges.
