ca. mid 19th century; New England, grain painted "traveler's" trunk w/ black on dark red sponge-print paint decoration. The stippled sponge print design is lineal form. The chest is pine or hemlock, dovetail constructed with flattop lid on iron butt hinges. The chest has face plate mounted iron drop-handles on either end.; 28" x 14' x 11 3/4'; Condition: box retains orinal face mounted lock, but hasp assembly is removed. Good, no damage noted.
