ca. late 19th century; Each primitive "student" images of birds: 1. Fraktur-type signature of "Cora Juliann Mantz, done 17th March, 1886." pencil and watercolor on lined composition paper of a colorful painted hen or pheasant, 8 3/4" x 7 1/8", Condition: upper center tear with minor crinkling. 2. Nolt-type pencil and watercolor birds on stem on lined composition paper. The drawing is signed on reverse "John Adam No(??). 1870" copied from a printed taufschein illustration of two birds on a berry stem, done in yellow and red pastel color with a secondary "distelfink bird on tulip stem" in upper page in a period stained, molded edge frame, 9" x 10 5/8"H, Condition: Upper left edge tear with old tape repair to back and fold creases.
