ca. Dated 1818; Attributed to an artist known simply as "The Krum Family Artist", believed to be from Lebanon Co., PA and a schoolmaster of "Margretta & Elizabeth Krum". The works were possibly done as school favors for the Krum family children. This work for "Elizabeth Krummin" (Germanic form) is an example that was used in "Papers for Birth Dayes" by Earnest (Vol. 3 - pg. 65). Framed under matting, the Fraktur drawing is on bond-type rag paper in ink and watercolor of a bright colored bird on flower stem with flower in its beak. The artist used a compass technique to craft tulips and circle-based flowers, each as graduated radiant arcs that appear drawn with an architectural precision. Each flower emanates from narrow red stems based with two geometric-petals with corner-block border with trailing floral vine design and print-form lettered, "Elizabeth Krummin, 1818"; Frame 11 3/4" x 11"; Condition: Note - There was an Elizabeth Krum (b1789 - d. 1867) lived in Schaefferstown, PA, the daughter of Johannes & Anna Marie Krum, a secondary Elizabeth Krum is listed (1816-1890). Minor creasing and soiling. Overall excellent.
