ca. 18th or early 19th century; Attributed to southeastern PA, this bread riser basket has tightly hickory splint wrapped coils of rye straw, large round bowl shape with a tightly lashed single coil foot, nine-coil bottom and eleven coil sides. These baskets were often lined with cloth and used as a dough/bread riser; 17" Dia. X 5 5/8"; Condition: excellent old oxidation patina with only two spots of hickory splint loss
