ca. Dated 1841; Signed, "J. Long, Amsterdam, Jefferson County, Ohio" red and white wool weft with two-color cotton warp, double weave coverlet, center-seam constructed jacquard woven with Ohio traditional "Church and courthouse" design border. The fine coverlet has a fine star center four oakleaf medallion pattern field with maker's panel on both lower corners. The sides have red wool fringe, head is bound and footing is cotton warp fringed. The maker is unlisted in "Checklist of American Coverlet Weavers" as being in Jefferson Co.; 96" x 80"; Condition: overall good-very good condition
