Fraktur watercolor in style Bernhard Misson

ca. active 1808-1826 (possibly later); In style of Bernhard Misson, who was a schoolmaster in Bucks and Montgomery Co, PA. He was noted as being a teacher in rural Bucks Co. At times the artist was called the "Durham artist" or "B.M. artist" (initials used). This fine ink and watercolor floral design has many of his characteristics of those other certificates attributed to Misson, including those red straight lines as an urn on bond-type rag paper. It has a flowing stem with three oversized geometric compass-work design open tulips and two fine boldly decorated speckled tulips, floral stem trails away to a narrow stem of small flowers. The large open flowers have a heart accent within four lobed-form petals that have brightly painted in yellow and red paints. Initials "S.S" on the footing on either side of the red-line urn, believed to be for another artist. The piece framed with pink construction paper backing in modern frame; Condition: References to "Bucks County Fraktur by Amsler, pg. 221, secondly "Papers for Birth Dayes" by Ernests Vol. 3 - pg. 209. The piece was removed from frame during cataloging, back of paper appears to be an early-mid 20th century piece. Overall excellent with a push-pin hole in upper left and small wear in lower right.
