ca. 1740; This land patent ink on vellum with Fraktur heading, "John Penn, Thomas Penn, & Richard Penn" for a tract of 156 acres that was transferred in 1740, to Phillip Evans in Earl Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa. The property initially described as being in "Manor of Conestoga". The two-sided document includes a frontispiece with information on the land grant history to William Penn in 1681, then following his death, the rights to those lands being transferred to his three sons. The tract is situated just north of Martindale, PA, near Martindale Mennonite Church at the corner of Hurst Rd. & Gristmill Rd.; 24" x 17 1/4" framed; Condition: appears to be cut-down. The signatures of the three Penn brothers is missing and the "Great Seal of Pennsylvania" is missing. Extensive light fading to frontispiece. *Note - The tract appears almost completely farmland to this day.
