Two American baskets featuring a contemporary utility basket and an antique-style gathering basket. The contemporary basket by Mapletree Baskets Inc. is handcrafted from stained maple with dual leather handles. Its base features animpressed mark reading MAPLETREE USA and a printed paper tag from the Zanesville, Ohio maker. The second basket is a round wood-splint vessel with a fixed arch handle.Mapletree basket shows light surface wear and dust. The antique-style splint basket exhibits significant structural damage, including numerous broken weavers, large holes in the base and sides, and a crude wire repair.
