A trio of salt-glazed stoneware items by Phil Schaltenbrand for Westerwald Pottery, featuring hand-painted cobalt blue decoration on a gray body. The group consists of a tall pitcher with a floral spray and two mugs inscribed with Altonand Bushkill Twp PA Est 1813. Bases are incised P.S. 17 or a PS monogram with 17, as corroborated by accompanying maker labels. Pitcher: 9.75 inches (H) x 5 inches (diameter at base). Alton Mug: 4 inches (H) x 3.75 inches (diameter atbase). Bushkill Mug: 4 inches (H) x 4 inches (diameter at base).Very good condition with no visible cracks or major chips. Surfaces exhibit minor pitting, kiln-grit inclusions, and slight iron spotting, which are characteristic results of the traditional salt-glaze kiln firing process.
