Vintage hand-carved ironwood quail sculpture featuring the distinctive rich, dark coloration and prominent natural grain associated with desert ironwood carvings. The quail has a beautifully stylized form with an elongated topknot plume, small pointed beak, rounded body, and subtly carved wing detail. The bird rises from a rustic portion of the natural wood, retaining rough-hewn texture along the base while the quail itself has been smoothly carved and polished. The contrast showcases the character and grain of the ironwood beautifully. A wonderful piece of vintage Southwestern and Arizona desert décor and a great addition to an ironwood carving or bird collection. Measures approximately 9.5" tall. See photos for details.
