"Tohono O’odham" Handwoven Basket Collection

Collection of four traditional Tohono O’odham handwoven baskets, crafted with a beargrass foundation and split-stitch yucca leaf weaving. The group includes three lidded basketry vessels in varying forms and one flat round basket or tray, showcasing traditional Indigenous basket-making techniques associated with the Tohono O’odham people of the Sonoran Desert and Southern Arizona. Each basket displays intricate handwoven construction with natural variations in the beargrass and yucca fibers. The lidded baskets feature fitted woven tops, with the two smaller examples having decorative woven finials. The flat basket features an attractive radiating geometric pattern created through the contrasting natural plant fibers. Together, the collection offers an appealing assortment of Tohono O’odham basketry, Native American baskets, Southwestern Indigenous art, Arizona tribal basketry, handwoven yucca baskets, beargrass baskets, traditional desert fiber art, and collectible Native American weaving. The collection includes a flat basket measuring approximately 5.5" wide x .75" tall, a small lidded basket measuring 5.5" wide x 3.25" tall, a medium round lidded basket measuring 5.5" wide x 4.5" tall, and a large lidded basket measuring 6.25" wide x 4" tall.
