Very nice 1/6th plate Civil War tintype in a full case. Image is of an early war Union infantryman with his rifle/bayonet (possibly Enfield) at order arms while wearing his cap box and scabbard. The shoulder strap and breastplate are visible while the cartridge box are hidden behind his left arm. Frock coat with a nice tall collar and his M1858 forage cap. US belt buckle is upside down, possibly an attempt to correct the reverse effects of the photography process. Provenance: The collection of Craig and Cynthia Wertz. 3 5/8"H x 3 1/4"W Repair to spine on case. Light bend extending from right side near his cuff to the belt buckle.
