Three Civil War buttons housed in a Riker case. Buttons include a dug Union infantry button with traces of gold gilt and the shank is present, marked Horstmann & Sons Philadelphia. Dug at Petersburg, Va. A smaller dug Union button found on the Franklin Battlefield. Lastly is a striking Massachusetts Volunteer Militia button retaining bright gold gilt, marked on reverse "Wm H Smith New York". Provenance: The collection of Craig and Cynthia Wertz. Case, 4 1/2" H x 5 1/2"W Mass. button is excellent, others are relic condition.
