A mid-20th-century oil painting on canvas depicting a dramatic seascape with powerful waves crashing against a rocky headland under a turbulent, cloud-filled sky. The work is executed in a realist style, utilising thick impasto brushwork to create texture and movement in the white surf and clouds. The painting is signed and dated in the lower right corner, reading G. Guimond / 67. It is housed in a substantial, ornate gilt-finished composition frame decorated with scrolling foliate and shell motifs at the corners and centres. The canvas is secured to a wooden stretcher with staples. Condition: The painting exhibits fine craquelure in areas of heavier impasto application, consistent with age. There is no significant paint loss or restoration apparent. The ornate gilt frame shows minor surface wear and small losses to the composition finish.
