Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless .38 Cal

Updated August 24, 2026

Lot 7515 showcases an antique Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless revolver chambered in .38 Caliber (.38 S&W). Affectionately dubbed the "Lemon Squeezer" by collectors, this top-break double-action sidearm is fitted with a 4-inch barrel boasting a surprisingly shiny bore. The metal frame is paired with vintage textured grip panels and features S&W's iconic internal hammer design alongside an integrated rear grip safety. Currently evaluated in fair overall condition, the exterior metal frame displays tons of rust and heavy vintage patina consistent with long-term storage. Smith & Wesson introduced this pioneering concealed-carry model near the turn of the 20th century to minimize snags and prevent accidental discharges. Offering incredible historical appeal for gunsmiths and antique firearms collectors, this piece seems like it needs work to operate. Please see photos.
