RG Ind. RG40 .38 SPL

Updated August 24, 2026

This RG Industries RG40 double-action/single-action revolver is chambered in .38 Special and represents an inexpensive American-market defensive revolver from the latter decades of the 20th century. Serial number R101688, this example features an approximately 2.1" barrel with a shiny bore and is rated in fair overall condition with plenty of visible wear from previous handling and use. The revolver features a compact frame, exposed hammer, swing-out cylinder, and short barrel configuration typical of defensive snub-nose revolvers. RG Industries became known for producing economical handguns that occupied the budget end of the American firearms market, and surviving examples today can be interesting representatives of that era of handgun manufacturing. This example clearly shows its age and use, with substantial exterior wear that should be carefully reviewed in the photographs. Its compact dimensions, .38 Special chambering, and shiny bore make it an interesting addition for a collector of vintage budget-priced American handguns. Please see photos. RG Ind.
