Sig Sauer P229 DAO .40 S&W

Updated August 24, 2026

This SIG Sauer P229 DAO semi-automatic pistol is chambered in .40 S&W and represents the rugged compact service-pistol design that helped establish the P229 as a longtime favorite among American law enforcement agencies. Serial number 55B071590, this example features an approximately 3.75" barrel with a shiny bore and remains in good overall condition. The pistol features SIG Sauer’s substantial metal frame paired with a steel slide and textured synthetic grip panels. This particular example utilizes a double-action-only, or DAO, trigger configuration rather than the traditional DA/SA arrangement commonly encountered on P229 pistols. One magazine is included. The P229 was developed as a strengthened evolution of SIG’s classic P-series pistols and became particularly associated with the .40 S&W cartridge during the height of that caliber’s law-enforcement popularity. With its DAO action, .40 S&W chambering, compact service dimensions, shiny bore, and respected SIG Sauer pedigree, this is an appealing example of a classic duty pistol. Please see photos.
