The bonnet has a broken swan neck pediment with reeded terminals and a turned center finial over reeded quarter columns, with a full length glazed door bordered in gold and black painted glass and glazed side panels in both bonnet and trunk. The arched brass dial carries four cast brass spandrels, applied Arabic numerals on a silvered chapter ring, an engraved center boss, a subsidiary seconds dial, and a moon phase arch with a disc painted with a full rigged sailing ship.
