This group of late 20th-century Russian decorative objects includes two nesting doll sets, a set of nesting icon eggs, and a carved wooden bird. The centerpiece is a large hand-painted Matryoshka doll featuring a detailed winter troikascene through a village landscape. A second five-piece Matryoshka set features pyrography (wood-burned) architectural depictions of Russian Orthodox cathedrals with silver and gold highlights. The base of this set is inscribed in Cyrillic (Sdelano v Rossii / Made in Russia), dated 1999, and signed with the initials (M.V.V.). A three-piece nesting egg set is hand-painted in a traditional iconographic style on a black lacquered ground, featuring the Virgin and Child, Christ Pantocrator, and a crowned saint. The base of the egg stand bears a gold cursive Cyrillic signature (Andreevi) and the date -99-. The collection is completed by a carved and lacquered wooden bird with The carved bird sculpture shows extensive loss of lacquer and finish on the back and wing area, with rust and oxidation present on the metal wire legs.
