Peter Max (German-American, b. 1937) Vibrant acrylic composition depicting a solitary monk standing before a radiant red sea beneath a dramatic sky of sweeping rainbow-like forms and energetic brushwork. Rich tones of crimson, cobalt blue, yellow, and violet create a dreamlike landscape characteristic of the artist's celebrated visual language. Signed upper right. Peter Max is one of the most recognizable figures of contemporary Pop Art, renowned for his vivid color palettes, spiritual imagery, and expressive compositions inspired by themes of peace, nature, and cosmic exploration.
