Childe Hassam (American, 1859-1935) An atmospheric drawing on paper capturing a bustling urban thoroughfare with horse-drawn carriages and figures navigating a rain-slicked street. The composition utilizes delicate hatching and fluid lines to depict the interplay of architectural shadows and soft, diffused city light. Signed "Childe Hassam" in the lower right. Framed. Frederick Childe Hassam was a preeminent American Impressionist known for his brilliant depictions of urban and coastal scenes. After studying at the Academie Julian in Paris, he became a founding member of "The Ten American Painters," bringing a refined French aesthetic to American subjects. His work is celebrated for its mastery of light and its ability to capture the sophisticated pulse of early 20th-century life.
